Sales of the Nintendo switch increased during the quarter and the corona quarantine conditions reached about 12 million units.
Nintendo released quarterly holiday revenue in which it sold the switch more than ever. A total of 11.57 million consoles have been sold, bringing the switch sales to 80 million since its launch in 2017. Nintendo has raised its forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31 to 26.5 million switch units and also raised its net profit estimate from 33% to 400 billion yen, or about $ 3.82 billion.
The Switch now outperforms the 3DS in terms of lifetime sales, while the old handheld device totaled 75.94 million units before the end of production. Only 730,000 3DS games have been shipped in the last quarter, and Nintendo insists the platform is now dead.
Nintendo sales this year
Nintendo also sold a quarter of its software sales, with nearly 76 million units sold.
Nintendo had previously raised its fiscal year forecast to 24 million switch units from 19 million units three months ago, as demand for the COVID-19 epidemic increased.
The biggest switch title in the next quarter is likely to be Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise, while the Wii U Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury port will also be available later this month. Both games will be offered as part of Switch hardware packages, which could further boost Switch sales for the rest of the fiscal year.
